Things to do in Playa Blanca
The villa is a short drive to all activities. Many are literally on the doorstep. Sun Grove Villas are a perfect retreat for those who want to enjoy an active holiday, then want to come home to relax in tranquil comfortable luxury.
A few minutes walk away is the Sun Tropical Island resort, where Sun Grove Villa guests will have a privilege pass to access all the facilities. A well equipped gym and tennis courts, along with a full spa suite with sauna, steam room, jacuzzi pool and large indoor pool.
Further in the resort you can find many water sports facilites. Surfing, Scuba diving, snorkelling, jetski, pedalo and banana boat are all popular. Playa Dorada beach in front of the commercial centre Papagayo is where you can find many activities. Classes are also available.
The long promenade stretches the length of the resort and is great for power walking, or taking an evening stroll. You can walk over two miles if you make it all the way to the ‘Faro’ lighthouse. A great walk in the other direction is to the Payagayo beaches and to Castillo del los Colorados, from here you have magnificent views of the island and beyond.
You can also take a segway tour or hire bicycles from the Rubicon main shopping centre.
There is a great waterpark just across the water in Fuerteventura, and ferries run regularly from the port in Playa Blanca. See ferry information from the links in the side bar.
For more intrepid explorers you can trek up Montaña Roja, an extinct volcano. The number 30 bus brings you a little closer to the mountain from the resort.
The jewel in Playa Blanca’s crown is of course the five Papagayo beaches. Untouched, unserviced, sparsely populated stretches of golden sand, separated by cliffs. Perfect to walk to, but also accessible, to a point, by car. There are also boat-taxi services to Papagayo beaches from Marina Rubicon and Playa Blanca port.
